Grenada
consists of three islands – Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique, with Grenada being the largest. The islands are located in the Eastern Caribbean at the southern end of the Windward Islands, just 100 miles north of Venezuela. The waters surrounding Grenada offer some of the best yachting in the Caribbean, and the Grenada Yacht Club hosts several sailing events throughout the year, including the well-known Grenada Sailing Festival in February. In addition, you will find several charter companies on the islands that offer cruises. Grenada is ringed with beautiful beaches and picturesque small villages. Inland, you will find lush rainforests, cascading rivers and waterfalls and gorgeous mountain lakes. The capital city of St. George is considered one of the prettiest cities in the Caribbean, and pastel colored warehouses, shops and homes surround its horseshoe-shaped harbor. Local festivals, fairs and markets are a way of life on Grenada, and centuries old spice plantations dot the landscape. For outdoor recreation, Grenada offers a number of excellent scuba diving and snorkeling spots, with other activities such as parasailing, surfing, swimming and deep-sea fishing are readily available, as well. The climate on Grenada is ideal – with average temperatures ranging from 75F to 87F, tempered by steady trade winds. The driest season is between January and May, but even during the rainy season, it rarely rains for more than a half-hour at a time and usually not every day.
