Phuket
is one of the world’s hottest yachting, fishing and scuba diving destinations. It is located in the Andaman Sea, which has some of the most beautiful islands and beaches in the world. Few places compare to Phuket for yachting and sailing. Chartering anything from a small bare-boat to a luxury, crewed vessel is possible here, and while there is plenty to see and do right on Phuket, several smaller islands are easily accessible within an hour or two by boat. Some of these islands are for day use only, others have accommodations, some of it rustic, others very exclusive. One of the many attractions for yachting enthusiasts on Phuket is Phang Nga Bay, famed for its sea mountains that rise vertically out of the calm, turquoise waters. There are numerous safe anchorages in the Bay, although exploring the many quaint little coves and bays is best done in a dinghy or sea canoe. Moving south from Phuket, you will discover the islands and stunning beaches of Krabi, and the islands of Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Ley, the second most popular destination in the Andaman region after Phuket. No trip to Phuket is complete without visiting the Similan Islands, which are rated one of the world’s top scuba diving destinations. The tropical beauty of this nine-island group is breathtaking, with its virgin jungle, silky sands and unusual granite rock formations. The only problem with yachting in Phuket is knowing when to leave - its beauty will surely make you want to stay and stay.
