St Croix is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands, and has world famous beaches, duty free shopping and a diverse history and culture. Located just 35 miles south of the other Virgin Islands, St. Croix is 28 miles long and 7 miles wide, and is a place to be both adventurous or laid back – whatever most appeals to you. It is said the weather in St. Croix ranges from “beautiful to excellent, with scattered showers only at convenient times,” making it a perfect yachting destination. Lying just 1.5 miles off the northeast coast of St. Croix is an 880-acre national monument that includes 176 acres of land surrounded by 704 acres of water and a spectacular coral reef system. It’s a paradise for snorkelers, and the deep grottos and labyrinths are a great spot for experienced scuba divers. Other sports on the island to enjoy include fishing, boating, hiking and golf on a Robert Trent Jones golf course. St. Croix also has historic ruins, museums, great shopping and restaurants, casinos and more. There are ferries and planes that make frequent trips back and forth to St. Thomas and St. John. If you are yachting in the Virgin Islands in March, don’t miss the St. Croix St. Patrick’s Day Celebration. It is known all over as one of the biggest parties of the year, and people have been known to even plan their vacation around this colorful event.
